Description:
This panel measures serum concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and provides a calculated concentration of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) cholesterol. Comprehensive lipid assessment aids in evaluating cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and the likelihood of an ischemic event. It is also useful for the prevention and management of atherosclerotic disease and diagnosis of metabolic syndrome [1].CVD is the leading cause of death in the United States. Individuals with high LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels are at elevated risk for developing CVD and having an ischemic event [2,3]. The American Heart Association recommends that Americans aged 20 and above have their lipid levels tested every 4 to 6 years. Children should have their cholesterol tested for the first time between ages 9 and 11 and again between ages 17 and 21. Testing should start earlier if there is a family history of high cholesterol [4].Treatment with N-acetyl cysteine for acetaminophen overdose may generate a falsely low result for cholesterol [5]. Venipuncture immediately after or during administration of the painkiller metamizole (dipyrone) may also lead to falsely low results for cholesterol [6].Note: Any or all individual tests from a panel can be ordered separately. The results of this test should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history as well as physical examination findings.References1. Description:
The 523-gene comprehensive genomic profiling panel is intended to help oncologists deliver precision medicine by providing personalized genomic analysis of a patient's blood. This comprehensive panel offers the opportunity for a broader scope of genomic information compared to single gene tests or smaller panels and an alternative specimen type for comprehensive genomic profiling of a patient s solid tumor. For example, it may be useful for patients with limited or ill-defined treatment options and for those considering clinical trials in the event tumor tissue is not available or insufficient for tissue-based testing. This panel uses next-generation sequencing to detect mutations present in circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) extracted from a solid tumor patient's blood plasma. The test is designed to detect single nucleotide variants (SNVs) and small insertions/deletions, as well as whole-gene copy number alterations and translocations in a select group of genes. Microsatellite instability (MSI) and tumor mutation burden (TMB) are also evaluated.

Description:
This panel is comprised of mutational analysis of the EGFR and KRAS genes and assessment for ALK locus rearrangement using an FDA-cleared FISH assay. These are the most common tumor-associated genetic changes that have been shown to have prognostic and therapeutic consequences in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and help guide therapy. Patients with EGFR mutations are generally responsive to EGFR-directed kinase inhibitors, whereas those with evidence of ALK gene rearrangements are candidates for treatment with the ALK inhibitor crizotinib. The presence of KRAS mutation in lung adenocarcinoma predicts for non-response to kinase inhibitors and for tumors with inferior outcome.

Description:
This panel supports the evaluation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and related autoimmune diseases, such as mixed connective tissue disease, systemic sclerosis, and Sjogren syndrome. However, testing for subserologies in the absence of a positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) result and clinically suspected autoimmune disease is generally not recommended [1].This panel simultaneously tests for ANAs with an immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and 6 specific autoantibodies associated rheumatic and related diseases. The ANA testing has high sensitivity (97%) for SLE but limited specificity (34%) [2]. Thus, a positive ANA test result does not exclude other autoimmune diseases with similar clinical features [3]. Testing for specific autoantibodies, as well as other biomarkers associated with these autoimmune diseases, in a panel may expedite the evaluation of SLE.Although individuals with negative results on the ANA IFA usually also have negative results for specific ANAs, Jo-1 antibody may be detected in ANA IFA-negative patients with some types of myositis, and SSA antibody may be detected in some ANA IFA-negative patients with lupus or Sjogren syndrome [1].The results of this test should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings.References1. Description:
This panel can be helpful in the diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and several other autoimmune diseases, including mixed connective tissue disease, Sjogren syndrome, systemic sclerosis, and autoimmune thyroid disease. The panel simultaneously tests for antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) with an immunofluorescence assay (IFA), performed on human epithelial type 2 (HEp-2) cells, and 11 biomarkers associated with these conditions. For specimens with positive ANA IFA results, reflex testing for ANA titer and pattern is performed. The ANA testing has high sensitivity (97%) for SLE but limited specificity (34%) [1]. Thus, a positive ANA test does not exclude other autoimmune diseases with similar clinical features [2]. Testing for specific antibodies in a panel may expedite the evaluation of SLE but is generally not recommended [3].The results of this test should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings.References1. Description:
Lyme disease is transmitted by a tick vector carrying Borrelia burgdorferi. Immunoblot testing qualitatively examines, with high specificity, antibodies in a patient's specimen. Immunoblot testing is appropriate for confirming a detected screening test result.
The CDC currently recommends a two-step process when testing blood for evidence of antibodies against the Lyme disease bacteria. Both steps can be done using the same blood sample.
The first step uses a screening procedure. If this first step is negative, no further testing of the specimen is recommended. If the first step is positive or indeterminate (sometimes called "equivocal"), the second step should be performed. The second step uses a test called an immunoblot test. Results are considered positive only if the screening and the immunoblot are both positive.
The two steps of Lyme disease testing are designed to be done together. CDC does not recommend skipping the first test and just doing the Immunoblot. Doing so will increase the frequency of false positive results and may lead to misdiagnosis and improper treatment.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Immunoblot testing qualitatively examines with high specificity antibodies in a patient's specimen. Immunoblot testing is appropriate for confirming a detected screening result. Lyme Disease Antibodies (IgG, IgM) Immunoblot Confirmation is ONLY performed when the Lyme Disease Antibody screening is positive.
Aids in the diagnosis of acute or chronic infection with the lyme disease agent.
Lyme disease is an infection caused by the bite of an infected tick. The disease often begins as a rash. If you don't get treatment, the infection can cause serious nerve or heart problems as well as a disabling type of arthritis (pain and swelling in one or more joints caused by inflammation).
Combination of IgM and IgM/IgG testing has the potential to provide the earliest and the broadest time window for serological detection. Immunoblot confirmation is recommended for positive results and is ONLY performed when the Lyme Disease Antibody screening is positive.
The CDC currently recommends a two-step process when testing blood for evidence of antibodies against the Lyme disease bacteria. Both steps can be done using the same blood sample.

Description:
This test is for the qualitative detection of antibodies against Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease, using the modified two-tier testing (MTTT) algorithm. Initial testing is performed using a Lyme total (IgG and IgM) antibody assay and if positive or equivocal, the sample is then tested using separate IgG and IgM immunoassays. This algorithm differs from the STTT algorithm in that the second-tier assays are chemiluminescent immunoassays, not immunoblots. MTTT may be able to assist in the identification of Lyme disease with improved sensitivity earlier in infection compared to STTT.Diagnostic testing for Lyme disease relies on a two-step algorithm to increase sensitivity and specificity. Testing is performed in patients presenting with signs and symptoms consistent with Lyme disease and with potential tick exposure in endemic regions. Most infections are transmitted by blacklegged ticks in the upper midwestern, northeastern, and mid-Atlantic states.Negative results can occur in patient with recent infection (≤14 days). In persons with recent or past infection, both IgG and IgM can be detectable months to years after the infection has resolved. Description:
Assists in evaluating helper and suppressor cell immune status in immunodeficiency diseases such as AIDS. HIV-1 infection results in a decrease of CD4 T cells, an increase of CD8 T cells, a decrease in the CD4:CD8 ratio, and a progressive destruction of immune function. In HIV-1 seropositive patients, enumeration of CD4 T cells may be used for prognostic purposes and to monitor disease progression and antiretroviral therapy.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Absolute Lymphocytes, Percentage CD4, Absolute CD4, Percentage CD8, Absolute CD8, CD4/CD8 Ratio (calculated)

Description:
Lymphogranuloma venerum (LGV) is a clinical syndrome caused by infection with C. trachomatis which typically includes genital bubonic disease. The serologic detection of C. trachomatis infection is complicated by the presence of crossreactive antibody to other Chlamydia species or nonspecific stimulation of anti-Chlamydia Ab. To differentiate C. trachomatis infection from other Chlamydia species, a panel of Chlamydia is tested for the determination of specific antibody titers.

Description:
Sequencing: This test should be offered to patients with colorectal cancer who meet the Bethesda criteria established by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and/or that their tumors display microsatellite instability (MSI) or replication error (RER) phenotype. Detection of a germline mutation in one or the mismatch repair genes helps to establish a clinical diagnosis of HNPCC in affected patients. Mutation detection in at risk family member allows predictive diagnosis of the disease and thus intensive screening and early intervention of cancer. Deletion/Duplication: This assay detects deletions and/or duplication involving one or more exons, as well as the entire MLH1 gene. This assay cannot detect smaller genetic alterations, such as point mutations affecting amino acid coding or mRNA splicing. The assay cannot detect mutations affecting MLH1 gene regions not examined in the assay (including most of the intronic regions). This assay cannot rule out the presence of germline mutations involving other mismatch repair genes.

Description:
Hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by the familial accumulation of early onset colorectal, endometrial and other tumors, and accounts for approximately 3-5% of all colon cancer cases. HNPCC is caused by germline mutations in four genes involved in the DNA mismatch repair pathway: MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, and PMS2. MLH1 and MSH2 mutations account for approximately 90% of HNPCC cases, MSH6 accounts for approximately 7-10%, while PMS2 accounts for less than 5%. The prevalence of PMS2 mutations is not well established but some studies have shown that large deletions account for approximately 21-37% of PMS2 mutations. The prevalence of sequence variants is not well established.
