Description:
This test quantifies an individual's IgE response to nettle. Allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in some clinical situations. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is sensitized to the allergen of concern. Many IgE-sensitized individuals do not develop any symptoms when exposed to the allergen. A diagnosis of allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation [1].More specific information about this allergen can be found on the following website: https://www.thermofisher.com/phadia/us/en/resources/allergen-encyclopedia.htmlReference 1. Description:
Autoantibodies to brain neurotransmitter cell surface receptors may be seen in paraneoplastic syndromes or in idiopathic autoimmune encephalitis. Antibodies to N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR1) may be seen in a progressive syndrome leading to behavioral changes, psychosis, seizures and coma; teratoma or other neoplasms are seen in some cases. Antibodies to voltage gated potassium channel (VGKC) are found in paraneoplastic and idiopathic autoimmune encephalopathy; in many cases, antibodies actually target VGKC-associated proteins LGI-1 or CASPR2. Antibodies to AMPAR1 and AMPAR2 are usually associated with limbic encephalitis but can present with other symptoms or psychosis, and is paraneoplastic in >50% of cases.

Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a clinically heterogeneous disease. Recurrent cytogenetic abnormalities help define subgroups with different prognosis and identify patients whom might benefit from targeted therapies. However, almost half adults AML cases display a normal karyotype by conventional cytogenetics, and the clinical and molecular features of this large subgroup of patients are poorly understood. Theย NPM exon 12 mutation can serve as predictor inย AML cases with a normal karyotype, good response to induction chemotherapy and as a marker for monitoring of minimal residual disease. NPM exon 12 mutations are AML-specific since they are not detected in normal cells or other neoplasms.

Patient Instructions:
You should fast for 12 hours before collection of the specimen. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 12 hours before testing. Specimens should be collected in the morning since iron values decrease by 30% during the course of the day and there can be significant interference from lipemia. Some tests in this panel may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H or coenzyme R). Refrain from eating fruits and from taking vitamin C supplements for 24 hours prior to collection. Patient should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample. Folate assays of samples from patients receiving therapy with certain pharmaceuticals (eg, methotrexate or leucovorin), are contraindicated because of the cross-reactivity of folate binding protein with these compounds. In patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (ie, > 5 mg/day), no sample should be taken until at least eight hours after the last biotin administration. Patient should refrain from eating liver and taking multivitamins or vitamin K at least 24 hours before sample collection. Estimated turnaround for results is 7 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.

Description:
This test quantifies an individualโs IgE response to oak. It is an in vitro quantitative assay, which is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of allergic diseases [1]. While allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing in many instances, both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology recognize that allergen-specific serum IgE testing may be preferred in some clinical situations. These include 1) the presence of widespread skin disease, 2) the recent use of antihistamines or other medications that can affect the results of allergy skin tests, 3) uncooperative patients, and 4) medical history suggesting that allergen skin testing would pose a significant risk for a serious allergic reaction [1]. A definitive clinical diagnosis of allergy should not be based on the results of any single diagnostic method, but should be made by a trained healthcare professional after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated. More specific information about this allergen can be found at http://www.phadia.com/en/Products/Allergy-testing-products/ImmunoCAP-Allergen-Information/Tree-Pollens/Allergens/Oak/ Reference 1. Description:
This test quantifies an individualโs IgE response to oats. It is an in vitro quantitative assay, which is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of food allergy [1]. Food-specific IgE tests are extremely sensitive. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is IgE sensitized to the food of concern. Many IgE-sensitized patients do not develop any symptoms when this food is ingested. A diagnosis of food allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider, after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation [2,3]. While food-specific IgE test results may contribute to that evaluation, they cannot replace it. In this regard, detection of food-specific IgE in serum provides evidence of IgE sensitization, but a history of clinical reactivity to the food of concern, is required to make a diagnosis of IgE-mediated food allergy. Moreover, several forms of food hypersensitivity are not associated with the presence of food-specific IgE in serum. More specific information about this allergen can be found at http://www.phadia.com/en/products/allergy-testing-products/immunocap-allergen-information/food-of-plant-origin/grains/oat/ References 1. Description:
This panel includes tests used for routine prenatal care during early pregnancy, which have been recommended for all women during early pregnancy by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) [1]. An alternative panel, the Obstetric Panel with Fourth Generation HIV (test code 93802), is available and may be ordered to simultaneously screen for HIV infection.Additional tests typically done in early pregnancy (but not included in this panel) include urinalysis, tests for sexually transmitted infections and tuberculosis, and blood glucose testing for women at high risk for gestational diabetes. The CBC with differential evaluates the levels and types of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the patient's blood. This information can help identify conditions such as anemia, low platelet count, and other blood cell disorders [1].The blood type, including ABO and Rh status, as well as the antibody screen, will provide information about a women's current and/or future risk for hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. These tests may also be useful to define any special transfusion requirements [1].Syphilis, when transmitted from mother to fetus, may cause birth defects and neonatal death [2]. Syphilis testing is performed using a combination of assays. The RPR is performed initially. If the result is reactive, a titer and a confirmatory test (fluorescent treponemal antibody absorption assay; FTA-ABS) will be performed at additional cost.Hepatitis B, a disease that affects the liver, can be passed from mother to fetus [1]. Hepatitis B screening is performed with the hepatitis B surface antigen test. If positive, additional confirmatory testing based on the test manufacturer's FDA-approved recommendations will be performed at additional cost.Rubella, or German measles, can cause birth defects if transmitted from mother to baby during pregnancy. Testing of the mother's immune status against rubella will indicate if the mother and baby are protected from infection by the virus during this time. Vaccination for rubella during pregnancy is not recommended [1].Note: Test results should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings.References1. Vaccination for rubella during pregnancy is not recommended [1].Hepatitis C (HCV) screening is recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for all pregnant individuals during each pregnancy. HCV screening during the first prenatal blood assessment obtained in every pregnancy is recommended to identify pregnant individuals with HCV infection and infants who should receive testing at a pediatric visit [3]. For the pregnant person, diagnosing HCV infection in early pregnancy gives providers the opportunity to reduce the risk of HCV vertical transmission with preferential performance of amniocentesis over chorionic villus sampling when needed, and avoidance of prolonged rupture of membranes, episiotomy, and fetal scalp monitoring when possible. Furthermore, children born to mothers with diagnosed HCV infection can be tested as early as 2 months of age and monitored for treatment needs to prevent progression to cirrhosis. Finally, persons diagnosed with HCV during pregnancy can receive treatment for hepatitis C, postnatally, to prevent progression to cirrhosis, liver failure, and death as well as reduce the risk of HCV transmission. Description:
This test detects the presence of specific IgE against octopus. A positive test only indicates that a person is sensitized and potentially allergic to this allergen. A diagnosis of allergy requires clinical signs and symptoms that appear to be associated with exposure to the allergen in addition to the detection of markers of IgE sensitization [1].More specific information about this allergen can be found on the following website: https://www.thermofisher.com/phadia/us/en/resources/allergen-encyclopedia.htmlReference1.
