Description:
When using this test, both SurePath Pap and HPV DNA (16, 18, Other High Risk) testing will be performed. SurePath Pap testing is intended for use in the screening and detection of cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions, atypical cells and all other cytologic categories as defined by the Bethesda System for Reporting Results of Cervical Cytology. Gynecologic cytology is a screening test which is subject to both false positive and false negative results. The test is most reliable when a satisfactory sample is obtained on a regular repetitive basis and must be interpreted in the context of historic and current information. HPV DNA (16, 18, Other High Risk), PCR, Cervical testing is used for the detection of high-risk Human Papillomavirus in clinician-collected cervical samples. The test detects high-risk HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68, which are reported out as HPV 16, HPV 18, and other high-risk HPV types which includes, but does not differentiate, the remaining 12 high-risk types. Patients should be followed up in accordance with professional medical guidelines, results from prior screening, medical history, and other risk factors.

Description:
Liquid-based Pap Testing is intended for use in the screening and detection of cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions, atypical cells and all other cytologic categories as defined by The Bethesda System for Reporting Results of Cervical Cytology. Pap screening is not reliable for the detection of endometrial cancer. HPV DNA testing in conjunction with a Pap test in women 30 years and older can be used adjunctively to assess the presence or absence of high-risk HPV types. This information, together with the physician's assessment of cytology history, other risk factors, and professional guidelines, may be used to guide patient management. Detection of HPV using the hc2 High-Risk HPV DNA Test does not differentiate HPV types or infection with more than one type, and cannot evaluate persistence of any one type. The use of this test has not been evaluated for the management of women with prior cytologic or histologic abnormalities, hysterectomy, who are postmenopausal, or who have other risk factors (e.g., HIV+, immunocompromised, DES exposure, history of STD). Gynecologic cytology is a screening test which is subject to both false positive and false negative results. For that reason, the test is most reliable when a satisfactory sample is obtained on a regular repetitive basis. Hence, these results must be interpreted in the context of historic and current clinical information.

Description:
This test quantifies an individual's IgE response to sweet gum tree. Allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in some clinical situations. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is sensitized to the allergen of concern. Many IgE-sensitized individuals do not develop any symptoms when exposed to the allergen. A diagnosis of allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation [1].More specific information about this allergen can be found on the following website: https://www.thermofisher.com/phadia/us/en/resources/allergen-encyclopedia.htmlReference1. Description:
This test quantifies an individual’s IgE response to sycamore. It is an in vitro quantitative assay, which is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of allergic diseases [1]. While allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing in many instances, both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology recognize that allergen-specific serum IgE testing may be preferred in some clinical situations. These include 1) the presence of widespread skin disease, 2) the recent use of antihistamines or other medications that can affect the results of allergy skin tests, 3) uncooperative patients, and 4) medical history suggesting that allergen skin testing would pose a significant risk for a serious allergic reaction [1]. A definitive clinical diagnosis of allergy should not be based on the results of any single diagnostic method, but should be made by a trained healthcare professional after all clinical and laboratory findings have been evaluated. More specific information about sycamore can be found at http://www.phadia.com/en/products/allergy-testing-products/immunocap-allergen-information/tree-pollens/allergens/maple-leaf-sycamore-london-plane-/ Reference 1. Syphilis (Treponema pallidum DNA), Qualitative Real-Time PCR

|
|
Description:
The Syphilis (Treponema pallidum) DNA, Qualitative Real-Time PCR is a molecular assay used for the direct detection of T. pallidum nucleic acid (DNA) in patient specimens to aid in the diagnosis of syphilis. Moist lesion (exudate) specimens collected during primary (and possibly secondary) syphilis can be tested in seronegative patients. Neonatal cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) can also be considered for testing as part of the laboratory evaluation in suspected cases of congenital syphilis. There is insufficient data to guide recommendations in suspected cases of adult neurosyphilis.Molecular testing in lesion specimens from adult patients is generally used in cases where serologic results do not correlate with clinical signs and symptoms suggestive of syphilis, including seronegative patients. In neonates being evaluated for congenital syphilis, PCR testing of suspicious lesions or CSF can be considered as supplemental to other laboratory testing including nontreponemal serologic tests (eg, RPR or VDRL). This assay may provide a rapid diagnosis during primary syphilis if organism is detected. A negative PCR result does not rule out infection. PCR testing during secondary syphilis has limited value compared to serologic testing. This assay does not detect antibodies against T. pallidum and therefore should not be used in place of treponemal and nontreponemal serologic tests. Antibody testing using the traditional or reverse algorithm is still considered the primary method for screening and diagnosis of syphilis.References:Papp JR, et al. Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma) 12 Antibodies Panel 2

Description:
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disease characterized by vascular abnormalities, and cutaneous and visceral fibrosis. Some antibodies are considered highly specific for SSc, including Scl-70 (anti-topoisomerase 1) antibody, anti-centromere (CENP) antibodies, and anti-RNA polymerase III antibody and are classification criteria for disease defined by the American College of Rheumatology. Centromere antibodies are found in patients with a limited form of cutaneous systemic sclerosis, "CREST" syndrome, a complex of subcutaneous calcinosis, Raynaud's phenomenon, esophageal dysmotility, sclerodactyly, and telangiectasias. RNA polymerase III antibodies target RNAP III epitopes 11 and 155. Antibodies to three major components of U1-snRNP (snRNP RNP A, U1-snRNP RNP C, U1-snRNP RNP-70kd): U1- are associated with scleroderma and inflammatory myopathy overlap syndromes. Anti-fibrillarin (anti-U3RNP) antibodies are associated with diffuse cutaneous SSc, frequent visceral involvement, and especially renal and cardiac involvement. In African-American patients, anti-fibrillarin antibodies are associated with severe pulmonary disease, pulmonary hypertension, severe small bowel involvement, and a poor prognosis. Anti-Th/To antibodies primarily bind to two proteins of the mitochondrial RNA processing (MRP) and the ribonuclease P complexes, are present in 1-13% of SSc patients, and are rarely found in other diseases. Anti-Th/To antibodies are primarily associated with localized cutaneous scleroderma, and associated with pericarditis, interstitial lung disease and a high frequency of “intrinsic pulmonary hypertension, and a poorer prognosis. Autoantibodies to PM/Scl, the human exosome complex, are found in polymyositis/scleroderma overlap syndromes. The majority of anti-PM/Scl reactivity is directed to one of two proteins: PM/Scl100 and/or PM-Scl75.

Description:
This test helps identify triiodothyronine (T3) thyroid hormone autoantibodies (THAAbs), which may interfere with T3 immunoassays in individuals with discordant serum T3 levels [1].THAAbs may present in healthy individuals but are more common in patients with autoimmune thyroid diseases. THAAbs may affect both 1-step and 2-step immunoassays; the interference may be transient or persist for years. T3 THAAbs interfere with T3 measurements by competing with T3 antibodies used in the T3 immunoassays. When the serum T3 level is discordant with clinical manifestations or other test results (eg, elevated T3 levels with normal or elevated thyroid stimulating hormone [TSH] levels), this test may be used to determine whether T3 THAAbs are the cause of discordance [1].Other methods of screening for interference by T3 THAAbs are polyethylene glycol precipitation and comparison against equilibrium dialysis. Anomalous T3 levels may also be caused by a range of interfering substances, such as biotin, heterophilic antibodies, and antibodies to streptavidin and ruthenium [1].Other conditions that may result in elevated free thyroxine and/or free T3 levels without suppressed TSH levels include thyroxine replacement therapy, familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia, certain drugs (eg, amiodarone and heparin), nonthyroidal illness, neonatal period, TSH-secreting pituitary adenoma, resistance to thyroid hormone, and disorders of thyroid hormone transport or metabolism [2].The results of this test should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings.References1. Description:
The T-cell leukemia/lymphoma protein 1 (TCL1) is an AKT kinase regulator that is expressed in B cells up to the germinal stage and in plasmacytoid dendritic cells. TCL1 is strongly expressed, due to the chromosomal rearrangements, t(14;14)(q11;q32) and inv(14)(q11;q32), in 70% of cases of T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL) but is negative in all other mature T-cell lymphomas and leukemias. TCL1 is also expressed in nearly all cases of blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms, and can be used to distinguish this tumor from monocytic neoplasms. High TCL1 levels correlate with the pre-germinal center genetic subtype and are a strong adverse prognostic factor in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

The Testosterone test in this panel will provide levels of Total Testosterone results ranging from 0 to 9,999. However, any value greater than 9,999 will be displayed as ">10,000" (over 10,000) instead of a specific number.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Total Testosterone, Free (Dialysis) Testosterone (calculated)
Patient Instructions:
If using a testosterone cream please be sure you have not rubbed any into the antecubital area of your arm for the last 24 hours as it can give elevated results.
Estimated turnaround for results is 7 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.

Description:
Testosterone circulates almost entirely bound to transport proteins: normally less than 1% is free. Measurement of Free Testosterone may be useful when disturbances in Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) are suspected such as when patients are obese or have excessive estrogen. Testosterone measurements are used to assess erectile dysfunction, infertility, gynecomastia, and osteoporosis and to assess hormone replacement therapy.
