Description:
If you’ve been losing your hair, this panel can help you pinpoint potential causes of hair loss & alopecia. It examines key hormones, nutrients, and inflammation markers, empowering you with important information to take control of your hair loss early. The panel assesses key hormone levels (testosterone, DHT, thyroid profile), evaluates essential nutrients (iron, ferritin, vitamin B12, and vitamin D), and identifies inflammatory and autoimmune markers. By understanding these factors, you can begin to target the root causes of your hair loss, the first step to regaining healthier, more resilient hair. This test uses equilibrium dialysis methodology.
The Testosterone test in this panel will provide levels of Total Testosterone results ranging from 0 to 9,999. However, any value greater than 9,999 will be displayed as ">10,000" (over 10,000) instead of a specific number.
Includes:
ANA Screen IFA w/ Ref to Titer and Pattern
Total Testosterone, Free (Dialysis) Testosterone (calculated)
C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Ferritin, serum
Iron, serum
Complete Blood Count / CBC (includes Differential and Platelets): WBC, RBC, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, Platelet Count, MPV and Differential (Absolute and Percent - Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, and Basophils)

Description:
This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Oregon and central and eastern Washington. Allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing and may be preferred in some clinical situations. However, a positive test result only indicates that a patient is sensitized to the allergen of concern. Many IgE-sensitized individuals do not develop any symptoms when exposed to the allergen. A diagnosis of allergy should only be made by a trained medical provider after conducting a thorough clinical evaluation [1]. More specific information about allergens included in this panel may be found on the Quest Diagnostics Test Directory. Reference 1. Bernstein IL, et al. Description:
This in vitro allergen-specific IgE panel is used to quantitatively measure an individual's IgE response to 23 different environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in southern Idaho and Nevada. These allergens include Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus fumigatus, Bermuda grass, cat dander, Cladosporium herbarum, cockroach, common ragweed (short), cottonwood, Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, dog dander, elm, maple (box elder), mountain cedar, mouse urine proteins, mugwort (sagebrush), oak, olive, Penicillium notatum, rough pigweed, Russian thistle (prickly saltwort), timothy grass, and white mulberry. This IgE panel is intended to be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of allergic diseases [1]. While allergen-specific serum IgE testing is considered comparable to skin testing in many instances, both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology recognize that allergen-specific serum IgE testing may be preferred in some clinical situations. These include (1) the presence of widespread skin disease, (2) the recent use of antihistamines or other medications that can affect the results of allergy skin tests, (3) uncooperative patients, and (4) medical history suggesting that allergen skin testing would pose a significant risk for a serious allergic reaction [1]. The results of this panel should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings. More specific information about each allergen included in this panel may be found on the Quest Diagnostics Test Directory. Reference 1. Bernstein IL, et al. Ann Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2008;100(3 Suppl 3)S1-S148.

The Chloride Test is a blood test used to measure the level of chloride, an important electrolyte. Serum chloride is the major extracellular anion and counter-balances the major cation, sodium, maintaining electrical neutrality of the body fluids. Two thirds of the total anion concentration in extracellular fluids is chloride and it is significantly involved in maintaining proper hydration and osmotic pressure. Movement of chloride ions across the red blood cell membrane is essential for the transport of biocarbonate ions in response to changing concentrations of carbon dioxide. Chloride measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of electrolyte and metabolic disorders such as cystic fibrosis and diabetic acidosis.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

About 10-30% of patients continue with lingering symptoms four or more weeks after COVID-19 infection, including those who had mild, or no symptoms termed as post-COVID conditions. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provided Interim Guidance for Assessment and Testing for Evaluating and Caring for Patients with Post-COVID Conditions. The CDC recommends laboratory testing be guided by the patient history, physical examination, and clinical findings. A basic panel of laboratory tests might be considered for patients with ongoing symptoms to assess for conditions that may respond to treatment, until more information and evidence is available for specific laboratory testing for post-COVID conditions. This panel is to be considered for basic testing if no previous testing was performed.

Description:
This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Vitamin/Nutrient Panel

Info
|
Description:
Our Vitamin/nutrient Panel offers an overview of important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in the body to assess any potential deficiencies or imbalances. People usually think of both vitamins and minerals as just vitamins, but they have some differences and are equally vital for the body to function correctly. This panel will test vitamins B12 and Folates (also known as vitamin B9) which are useful to diagnose anemia, and vitamin D which is important for bone and hormonal health. Iron is an important mineral needed in red blood cells to carry oxygen properly, and along with ferritin (a measure of your body's iron reserves), it can help diagnose anemia as well. Magnesium and zinc are also minerals and are responsible for muscle function, energy production, immune function, and hormone regulation to mention a few. Methylmalonic acid is useful in understanding vitamin B12 deficiency and it aids in diagnosing certain genetic conditions. This test also includes a Comprehensive Metabolic Profile (CMP), which also includes kidney and liver function biomarkers, will allow you to assess your levels of electrolytes (also minerals) like calcium, potassium, chloride, and sodium. The CMP will also tell you your levels of total protein and glucose which are important nutrients used by the body to perform a multitude of metabolic functions.
Includes:
Complete Blood Count / CBC (includes Differential and Platelets): WBC, RBC, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, Platelet Count, MPV and Differential (Absolute and Percent - Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, and Basophils) Comprehensive Metabolic Profile ( includes eGFR ): Albumin, Albumin/Globulin Ratio (calculated), Alkaline Phosphatase, ALT, AST, BUN/Creatinine Ratio (calculated), Calcium, Carbon Dioxide, Chloride, Creatinine with GFR Estimated, Globulin (calculated), Glucose, Potassium, Sodium, Total Bilirubin, Total Protein, Urea Nitrogen Vitamin B12 Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy Folate, RBC Iron, Serum Ferritin, Serum Magnesium, Serum Zinc Methylmalonic Acid
Patient Instructions:
You should fast for 12 hours before collection of the specimen. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 12 hours before testing. Specimens should be collected in the morning since iron values decrease by 30% during the course of the day and there can be significant interference from lipemia. Some tests in this panel may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H or coenzyme R). In patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (ie, > 5 mg/day), no sample should be taken until at least eight hours after the last biotin administration. Patient should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample. Patient should not have vitamins containing folic acid during the previous three to five days; if so, consult physician before discontinuing. Estimated turnaround for results is 5 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.

Description:
The Ferritin test measures the amount of iron stored by your body. This test can help diagnose excess iron levels as well as iron deficiency. Liver dysfunction and other factors can cause a reduction in the clearance of serum ferritin resulting in an increase in serum ferritin levels. Ferritin is an acute phase reactant that may be elevated in a wide-range of inflammatory conditions and infections.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Ferritin, serum.

Info
|
Description:
Gut microbes live symbiotically within the human digestive tract and play important roles in host defense, immunity, and nutrient processing and absorption. The diverse community is unique to each person and influenced by both acute and chronic dietary exposures to various food sources. Nutrients such as phosphatidylcholine (also known as lecithin), choline, and L-carnitine are abundant in animal-derived products such as red meat, egg yolk and full-fat dairy products. When consumed, these nutrients are processed by gut bacteria resulting in the release of various metabolites including TMA (trimethylamine) into the blood. TMA is then transported to the liver where it is converted into TMAO (trimethylamine N-oxide) which has been shown to regulate various physiological processes involved in the development of atherosclerosis.
Alternative names: Trimethyl amine N-oxide,TMANO
Patient Instructions:
Patient should fast overnight. Patient should refrain from consuming fish or other seafood the day before the blood draw to avoid false elevations in TMAO.

Description:
Celiac disease is caused by an immune response to gluten in genetically sensitive individuals. The diagnosis is largely based on a biopsy of the small intestine, but serologic tests also help support a diagnosis and may assist identification of patients who may require biopsy.
Tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG, IgA) is a marker with 95% sensitivity and specificity. Total IgA is measured because 2-3% of celiac disease patients are IgA deficient. Because tTG, IgA, and anti-Gliadin IgA tend to decrease in patients on a gluten-free diet, these markers are also used to assess dietary compliance.
The endomysial antibody (EMA, IgA) assay has high specificity for celiac disease and is used to confirm positive anti-tTG results.

Description:
Vitamin B3 - Nicotinic acid occurs naturally in plants and animals and is also added to many foods as a vitamin supplement.
Nicotinamide is a metabolite of nicotinic acid. Due to the large variability in the metabolism of nicotinic acid, plasma concentrations of this metabolite are variable. In one study, fasting plasma concentrations were reported to be approximately 40 ng/mL. In another study it was reported that the administration of a single 1000 mg of extended-release tablet of nicotinic acid resulted in a mean peak nicotinamide concentration of 400 ng/mL between 5 and 10 hours post dose, decreasing to about 100 ng/mL by 16 hours post dose.
Nicotinic Acid - Due to the large variability in the metabolism of nicotinic acid, the dosing preparation used (immediate-release vs. extended release), and the mg doses used, the serum concentrations may range from less than 20 ng/mL to about 30,000 ng/mL. After oral administration of an immediate-release tablet, peak plasma concentrations occur in 4 to 5 hours. The plasma half-life of nicotinic acid is about one hour. In one study, fasting plasma concentrations were reported to be less than 20 ng/mL. In another study, it was reported that the administration of a single 1000 mg extended-release tablet resulted in mean nicotinic acid concentrations of less than 50 ng/mL.

This test measures the amount of the enzyme alkaline phosphatase in your blood. This enzyme is present in most tissues but is especially concentrated in the liver and bones.
Serum alkaline phosphatase levels are of interest in the diagnosis of hepatobiliary disorders and bone disease associated with increased osteoblastic activity. Moderate elevations of alkaline phosphatase may be seen in several conditions that do not involve the liver or bone. Among these are Hodgkin's disease, congestive heart failure, ulcerative colitis, regional enteritis, and intra-abdominal bacterial infections. Elevations are also observed during the third trimester of pregnancy.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Description:
This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and the mountain areas of Arizona and Idaho. This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Description:
The blood urea nitrogen (BUN) test is a test of how well your kidneys are working. It measures the amount of nitrogen in your blood. The nitrogen is present in a chemical called urea. Urea is a waste product produced as your body digests protein. Urea is carried by the blood to the kidneys, which filter the urea out of the blood and into the urine.
Urea is the principle waste product of protein catabolism. BUN is most commonly measured in the diagnosis and treatment of certain renal and metabolic diseases. Increased BUN concentration may result from increased production of urea due to (1) diet or excessive destruction of cellular proteins as occurs in massive infection and fevers, (2) reduced renal perfusion resulting from dehydration or heart failure, (3) nearly all types of kidney disease, and (4) mechanical obstruction to urine excretion such as is caused by stones, tumors, infection, or stricture. Decreased urea levels are less frequent and occur primarily in advanced liver disease and in overhydration.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Description:
The ionized calcium is determined by an ion selective electrode methodology. The result that is generated is pH adjusted. The result is empirically based on a measured pH and ionized calcium concentration normalized to a pH of 7.40. This calculation compensates for in vitro changes in pH due to loss of CO2 through specimen handling. Ionized calcium represents the true "bioavailable" calcium in the circulation. In situations where the total calcium is normal but does not fit the clinical picture, e.g., hyperparathyroidism, a determination of the ionized calcium will, many times, show an elevation in the "bioavailable" calcium component. This may be due to alterations in protein concentrations, especially albumin, that binds most of the calcium in the circulation.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Description:
This in vitro allergen-specific IgE panel is used to quantitatively measure an individual's IgE response to alpha-gal, an allergy component, and 3 meats (beef, pork, and lamb) that commonly trigger alpha-gal-associated meat allergy. This IgE panel may be used in conjunction with other clinical information to aid in the diagnosis of alpha-gal syndrome, a severe allergic reaction to mammalian meat induced by past tick bites [1]. Most cases of alpha-gal syndrome occur in the southeastern United States because of the heavy presence of the lone star ticks. Other types of ticks also have been associated with alpha-gal syndrome in Europe, Australia, Asia, and the northern and western United States. The alpha-gal (ie. galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose) IgE test helps evaluate the etiology of meat allergies in patients with delayed onset of symptoms (3 to 6 hours after eating meat) [1,2]. IgE antibodies to alpha-gal are the likely mediator of anaphylactic reactions in individuals who develop hypersensitivities to beef, pork and/or lamb as adults [2]. The results of this panel should be interpreted in the context of pertinent clinical and family history and physical examination findings. More specific information about each allergen included in this panel can be found on the Quest Diagnostics Directory Page. References 1. Alpha-gal syndrome. Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Description:
Vitamin A is critical for vision, growth, and many cell functions. High concentrations of Vitamin A are seen with renal failure, but this is not associated with toxicity and excessive ingestion. High concentrations are associated with bone fractures. Low concentrations of Vitamin A are consistent with fat malabsorption and are rarely due to inadequate diet.
Vitamin A is needed for growth and for strong bones and teeth. As you grow older, it helps keep your skin and eyes healthy. Vitamin A is present in liver, fish liver oils, dairy products, dark green and yellow-orange vegetables, and in fruits. Too much vitamin A may cause symptoms that include headache, itchy skin, and hair loss.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

Description:
Detection of antibodies to gliadin, one of the major protein components of gluten, is a sensitive assay useful in diagnosing celiac disease. However, gliadin antibodies may be found in individuals without celiac disease; thus gliadin antibody assays are less specific than assays measuring antibodies to endomysium and transglutaminase. Recent work has revealed that gliadin-reactive antibodies from celiac patients bind to a very limited number of specific epitopes on the gliadin molecule. Further, deamidation of gliadin results in enhanced binding of gliadin antibodies. Based on this information, assays using deamidated gliadin peptides bearing the celiac-specific epitopes have much higher diagnostic accuracy for celiac disease when compared to standard gliadin antibody assays.

Info
|
Description:
Biotin (Vitamin B7) - Biotin, vitamin B7, or vitamin H, is a water soluble vitamin. The vitamin plays a role in the transferring of carbon dioxide in the metabolism of fat, carbohydrate and protein by functioning as an enzyme cofactor. It is involved in multiple biochemical reactions including niacin metabolism, amino acid degradation, and the formation of purine, which is an integral part of nucleic acids. It interacts with histone by the action of biotinyl-transferase. Sometimes the vitamin is used in weight reduction programs. It may be prescribed as a supplement for diabetic patients due to its role in carbohydrate metabolism. Biotin is commonly found in vitamin B complex and many food sources, such as milk, yeast, egg yolk, cereal, and mushrooms. The reference daily intake [RDI of 101.9(c) (8) (IV)] for vitamin B7 is 300 micrograms. Deficiency in the vitamin may result in seborrheic dermatitis, alopecia, myalgia, hyperesthesia, and conjunctivitis. Disorders of biotin metabolism can be acquired or congenital. Biotinidase and holocarboxylase synthethase deficiency are the two better known forms of disorders. The lack of biotin-dependent pyruvate carboxylase, propionyl-CoA carboxylase, methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase, and acetyl-CoA carboxylase can lead to the life-threatening disorder of multiple carboxylase deficiency. Treatment involves a daily dose of approximately 10 mg biotin/day. Irreversible mental or neurological abnormalities may result from delayed clinical intervention.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

This panel tests for specific IgE antibodies to environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Florida south of Orlando.
This in vitro allergen-specific IgE panel is used to quantitatively measure an individual's IgE response to 23 different environmental allergens that are commonly associated with allergies in Georgia, northern Florida, and South Carolina. These allergens include Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus fumigatus, Bahia grass, Bermuda grass, birch, cat dander, Cladosporium herbarum, cockroach, common ragweed (short), Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, dog dander, elm, maple (box elder), mountain cedar, mouse urine proteins, nettle, oak, pecan/hickory, Penicillium notatum, rough pigweed, sheep sorrel, and timothy grass. Info
|
Description:
Hepatitis B surface antigen is the earliest indicator of the presence of acute infection. Also indicative of chronic infection. Test is useful in the differential diagnosis of hepatitis. Patients who are negative for HBsAg may still have acute type B viral hepatitis. There is sometimes a core window stage when HBsAg has become negative and the patient has not yet developed the antibody (anti-HBs). In cases with strong clinical suspicion of viral hepatitis, serologic testing should not be limited to detecting HBsAg, but should include a battery of tests to evaluate different stages of acute and convalescent hepatitis.
Includes:
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen with Reflex Confirmation.
Positive samples will be confirmed based on the manufacturer's FDA approved recommendations.
Note: Confirmation testing is performed on reactive results only if initial values fall within a designated range requiring additional confirmation.

Description:
Measurement of renin activity is useful in the differential diagnosis of individuals with hypertension. Renin levels will be elevated in patients with hypertension due to renal artery stenosis (ie, renovascular hypertension). Also useful in the diagnosis of primary aldosteronism. Patients with secondary aldosteronism tend to have low renin levels. Renin can also be used to assess the adequacy of steroid substitution in patients with adrenal insufficiency. Renin activity will be normal in patients with adequate supplementation and will be elevated when steroid substitution is inadequate.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Aldosterone, LC/MS

Description:
Increased serum CEA levels have been detected in persons with primary colorectal cancer and in patients with other malignancies involving the gastrointestinal tract, breast, lung, ovarian, prostatic, liver and pancreatic cancers. Elevated serum CEA levels have also been detected in patients with nonmalignant disease, especially patients who are older or who are smokers. CEA levels are not useful in screening the general population for undetected cancers. However, CEA levels provide important information about patient prognosis, recurrence of tumors after surgical removal, and effectiveness of therapy.

Iron, Serum w/ TIBC

Description:
The Iron Test with Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) can detect how much iron is in the blood. Serum iron quantification is useful in confirming the diagnosis of iron-deficiency anemia or hemochromatosis. The measurement of total iron binding in the same specimen may facilitate the clinician's ability to distinguish between low serum iron levels caused by iron deficiency from those related to inflammatory neoplastic disorders. The assay for iron measures the amount of iron which is bound to transferrin. The total iron binding capacity (TIBC) measures the amount of iron that would appear in blood if all the transferrin were saturated with iron. It is an indirect measurement of transferrin concentrations but expressed as an iron measurement. To obtain the percent saturation, the serum iron is divided by the TIBC which gives the actual amount of saturated transferrin. The percent saturation is low in iron deficiency and high in iron storage diseases.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Total Iron,
Iron Binding Capacity,
% Saturation (calculated)
Patient Instructions:
Specimens should be collected in the morning from patients in a fasting state, since iron values decrease by 30% during the course of the day and there can be significant interference from lipemia.
