Description:
Prostatitis is swelling and tenderness of the prostate gland. It is a common problem in men. The prostate gland is a doughnut-shaped gland located between the base of the penis and the bladder. The average prostate is about the size of a small peach. It surrounds the urethra, which is the tube through which urine and semen pass. The prostate makes the fluid that nourishes and carries sperm.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Please Note: If this panel is ordered by a female, due to ordering restrictions on certain tests, the PSA test will not be included on the requisition and will not be performed.

Description:
High concentrations of acid phosphatase are found in the prostate gland. Significant amounts are also found in platelets, bone, spleen, kidney and liver. Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP) is a component of total acid phosphates and is a major constituent in seminal fluid and is also secreted in the urine. PAP is normally found in serum in very low levels. PAP measurement has found clinical application in the management of prostatic cancer patients. Serum PAP measurements have been useful in monitoring remission or relapse of a prostatic malignancy and in assessing the effectiveness of various treatment regimes. Thus, normalization in serum PAP levels has been observed following successful therapeutic intervention, while recurrent or residual disease has been associated with elevated levels of PAP.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Includes:
Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP), Serum
Patient Instructions:
Samples must be obtained before rectal examination, biopsy, prostatectomy or prostatic massage, since manipulating the prostate gland may lead to elevated PAP levels persisting up to 24-48 hours.
Estimated turnaround for results is 5 business days.

Description:
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a glycoprotein produced by the epithelial cells lining the prostatic ducts and acini. Normally, it is secreted into the prostatic ducts and is present only in prostate tissue, prostatic fluid, and seminal plasma. PSA is produced by normal, hyperplastic, and cancerous prostatic tissue. PSA is used as a tumor marker for the early detection of prostate cancer and in other areas of prostate disease management. Elevated serum PSA concentrations have been reported in men with prostate cancer, benign prostatic hypertrophy, and inflammatory conditions of the prostate.
The Prostate-Specific Antigen Best Practice Statement: 2009 Update published by the American Urologic Association describes the use of PSA testing for:
- The evaluation of men at risk for prostate cancer
- Assistance in pretreatment staging
- Risk assessment posttreatment monitoring
- Use as a guide in management of men who recur after primary or secondary therapy
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Please Note: This test is for male clients only, due to ordering restrictions on certain tests, the PSA test will not be included on the requisition and will not be performed when ordered by females.

Testosterone testing is used to evaluate androgen excess or deficiency related to gonadal function, adrenal function, or tumor activity. Testosterone levels may be helpful in men for the diagnosis of hypogonadism, hypopituitarism, Klinefelter syndrome, and impotence (low values). Testosterone levels may be requested in women to investigate the cause of hirsutism, anovulation, amenorrhea, virilization, masculinizing tumors of the ovary, tumors of the adrenal cortices, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia (high values). Testosterone levels in children may be helpful to investigate issues related to puberty and development as well as the aforementioned.

Description:
This test is intended for use as an aid in the management of patients following surgical or medical treatment for prostate cancer. For post-prostatectomy patients. The lower limit of accurate quantification for this assay is 0.02 ng/mL. PSA values less than 0.02 ng/mL cannot be accurately measured and will be reported as less than 0.02 ng/mL. Specimens with PSA levels below the lower limit of accurate quantification should be considered as negative. In patients with a negative result for post-prostatectomy PSA, serial monitoring of PSA levels at regular intervals, along with physical examinations and other tests, may help to detect recurrent prostate cancer.
A significant deviation from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.
Please Note: This test is for male clients only, due to ordering restrictions on certain tests, the PSA test will not be included on the requisition and will not be performed when ordered by females.

Description:
Testosterone circulates almost entirely bound to transport proteins: Normally less than 1-2% is free. The principal transport protein for testosterone is known as sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) or testosterone-estradiol binding globulin (TeBG). Testosterone measurements are used to assess erectile dysfunction, infertility, gynecomastia, and osteoporosis and to assess hormone replacement therapy.
This is a Male Only Testosterone test, it cannot be performed on a female. FEMALES needing to order this test from Quest will need to order the 'Testosterone Total LC/MS/MS'.
Use of synthetic steroids, various supplements and/or high doses of biotin may interfere with the accuracy of the standard immunoassay Testosterone Total serum test. If you are taking any of these it is recommended that you order the Testosterone Total LC/MS/MS for testing.
This testosterone test will also provide results when the total testosterone value is >1500 but <3,000.
This is a Male Only test, it cannot be ordered by females. If a female orders this panel, the testosterone test will not be included on the requisition or performed at the lab.
Significant deviations from the normal range may require further evaluation by your physician.

This testosterone test will provide actual results, including when the total testosterone value is >1500 but <10,000
Patient Instructions:
Patient should fast for 12-14 hours prior to collection of the specimen. Fasting is defined as no consumption of food or beverage other than water for at least 12 hours before testing. For accurate test results, no ejaculation during the 24 hours preceding the test. If using a testosterone cream please be sure you have not rubbed any into the antecubital area of your arm for the last 24 hours as it can give elevated results. Some tests in this panel may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin (also termed as vitamin B7 or B8, vitamin H or coenzyme R). Patient should be cautioned to stop biotin consumption at least 72 hours prior to the collection of a sample.
Estimated turnaround for results is 7 business days. If confirmation testing is required, the estimated time may be extended.

This basic anti-aging screen gives valuable insights into your hormone balance, vitality, and overall well-being. This test uses equilibrium dialysis methodology.
The Testosterone test in this panel will provide levels of Total Testosterone results ranging from 0 to 9,999. However, any value greater than 9,999 will be displayed as ">10,000" (over 10,000) instead of a specific number.
Includes:
Complete Blood Count / CBC (includes Differential and Platelets): WBC, RBC, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, Platelet Count, MPV and Differential (Absolute and Percent - Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, and Basophils)
Comprehensive Metabolic Profile ( includes eGFR ): Albumin, Albumin/Globulin Ratio (calculated), Alkaline Phosphatase, ALT, AST, BUN/Creatinine Ratio (calculated), Calcium, Carbon Dioxide, Chloride, Creatinine with GFR Estimated, Globulin (calculated), Glucose, Potassium, Sodium, Total Bilirubin, Total Protein, Urea Nitrogen
